About Commissioner Brieve
Background
Emily is a long time Gaines Township resident. She graduated from Cutlerville Christian School (now Legacy Christian). South Christian High School and Calvin University. Emily worked as a Legislative Assistant in the Michigan House of Representatives for a Republican and then excelled in automotive sales during the most difficult time in the industry. Currently, Emily helps manage her family's small business, FastoolNow.com, along with her father and brother. They sell construction tools and supplies worldwide. Emily and her husband, Mark, have two boys, Jonah and Micah.
Involvement
Emily was first elected to serve on the Kent County Board of Commissioners in 2014 and currently serves as Vice Chair. Since elected, she has served the 10th District and Kent County in various capacities including Chair of the Lead Task Force, Chair of the Board of Public Works, Secretary of the West Michigan Sports Commission, Ford Airport Authority Board Member, former Chair of the Community Health Advisory Committee, Grand Rapids Public Museum Board, Network180 Community Mental Health Board, and more. Emily has also volunteered as a Caledonia Little League t-ball coach and currently coaches South Christian Middle School Tennis with her husband. Emily enjoys serving as a volunteer at Dutton Christian School.
